Dairy Free Bakes

Recently, a lovely customer got in touch and asked if I could make a treat for her child who’s dairy-free. I was more than happy to take on the challenge after all, everyone deserves something sweet, no matter their dietary needs!

I popped into my local Super Valu and picked up the Naturli Organic Vegan Block (a great plant-based butter alternative). With just one simple swap replacing regular butter with this vegan option. I whipped up a batch of delicious buns that turned out even better than expected.

Of course, my nieces and nephews are my go-to taste testers. They’re brutally honest (as only kids can be), so I didn’t tell them anything had changed. Their verdict?

“These are delicious! I love the crunchy top and fluffy inside!”

When I revealed that there was no real butter involved, they were genuinely surprised—You’d never know!”

It was such a lovely reminder that great bakes don’t have to be full of dairy to taste amazing. Whether it’s for an allergy, a preference, or just a curiosity, I’m always happy to adapt my recipes so that more people can enjoy a little slice of Shelly’s.

Have a dietary request? Don’t be shy, I'm always happy to experiment or why dont you try!
